Happy Birthday Deepika Padukone! From Tamasha To Piku, 5 Movies That Left The Audience Memserised
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is an epitome of beauty. The multi-talented celebrity has left the audience mesmerized by not only her performances as an actor but also with her fashion statements and by being a strong advocate for mental wellness. For years she has talked about her battle with depression, to help many others who are going through a tough time, she even started a foundation Live, Love and Laugh.

Ever since her Bollywood debut back in 2007 with Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika has delivered some of the finest performances. From doing historical-dramas like Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani to doing unfiltered stories like Chhapaak, Piku and Cocktail, she went on become a global sensation after her Hollywood debut with XXX: Return of Xander Cage. As the actress turns a year older, let’s revisit five of her best performances.

Piku (2015)

Well, one can never disagree to the fact that Piku is indeed Deepika’s one of the finest performance. The actress played the character of an independent, modern-age woman, who takes care of her ailing father. Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan, the movie was directed by Shoojit Sircar. The movie beautifully explored the relationship between a father and his daughter. The actress truly became a role model for women after the release of the film.

Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram Leela (2013)
1

The movie is truly one of the masterpieces created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali that can be never forgotten by the audience. Based on Romeo and Juliet, the movie saw the actress essay the role of Leela, a fierce, headstrong and a passionate person. Someone who is unafraid of society’s views and will stand-up for what she believes in. Co-starring, her husband Ranveer Singh, Ram-Leela was indeed one of her finest performances.

Chennai Express (2013)
1
Released in the same year as the aforementioned movie, Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express saw the actress in a completely different avatar. As Meenamma, Deepika made sure to tickle everyones’ funny bone with her impeccable comic timing. Her outfits too became a fan favourite. The movie also starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. We wish DP would feature in more comedy movies.

Tamasha (2015)
1

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the movie starred Deepika as Tara and Ranbir Kapoor as Ved in lead roles. While the movie focused on Ved’s self-discovery journey, the actress’ performance was lauded by the critics and the audience. While she had lesser screen-time than Ranbir, Deepika outshined him for her character’s straight-forward yet caring portrayal.

Karthik Calling Karthik (2010)
1

While the movie didn’t fare well at the box-office, Deepika’s performance as Shonali Mukherjee in the psychological thriller drama was undoubtedly one of her best performances yet. Starring Farhan Akhtar, who essayed the titular role, the movie explored the concept of schizophrenia, a mental disorder where the patients fail to understand the reality. In the movie, her strong-minded will left the audiences impressed.

Apart from movies, the international sensation recently ventured into business by launching her self-care brand 82°E, also known as Eighty-Two East.

On the work front, Deepika Padukone will be seen in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan. She also has the Hrithik Roshan starrer Fighter and Project K starring Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan, in her pipeline.
